Spain has officially revealed its representative for the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2025: 14-year-old Gonzalo Pinillos from Madrid. The announcement was made by Spanish broadcaster RTVE this wednesday, 23 july.
With a strong foundation in music, musical theatre, and acting, Gonzalo is preparing to take on his biggest challenge yet: performing on the Junior Eurovision stage in Tbilisi on saturday, 13 december.
Gonzalo’s musical journey began at the age of 6, when he started studying piano and music theory. He currently attends the prestigious Katarina Gurska School of Music and was a member of his school choir for six years.
His passion for musical theatre took off in 2020, and by 2023, he had landed a starring role in the Spanish production of School of Rock, where he played Lawrence, a demanding part that required acting, singing, and live piano performance. In 2024, he continued his theatrical success by joining the cast of The Chorus (Los Chicos del Coro) in Madrid, playing one of the lead roles, Pierre Morhange.
Outside of the arts, Gonzalo is equally dynamic. He started playing chess in 2017 and even reached the finals of the Madrid regional championship. He also enjoys a wide variety of sports including basketball, swimming, surfing, and skiing. A talented writer as well, Gonzalo has won two school awards for his creative writing.
Musically, his favorite genres are pop and musical theatre. He draws inspiration from artists such as Olivia Rodrigo, Ariana Grande, Bruno Mars, Aitana, David Bisbal, and Sebastián Yatra.
Spain is no stranger to success at Junior Eurovision, having participated 10 times and earning one victory, three second-place finishes, and two third-place results. At the 2024 contest held in Madrid, Chloe DelaRosa energized audiences with her upbeat entry Como la Lola. Re-watch it here:
