Carmelle has won Philippine Selection Night with “Sobra-Sobra” and will represent the Philippines at the inaugural Eurovision Song Contest Asia in Bangkok, Thailand.
The singer emerged victorious at the first-ever Philippine national selection for the Asian edition of the Eurovision Song Contest, held tonight at the New Frontier Theater in Manila.
Carmelle topped a field of ten competing acts, securing the ticket to Eurovision Song Contest Asia, ahead of SAGA, who finished in second place.
The final result was determined through a combination of a professional jury, the Filipino public and international viewers. The jury accounted for 40% of the final score, while another 40% came from viewers in the Philippines. The remaining 20% was determined by the Rest of the World vote.
Carmelle to represent the Philippines
Carmelle, whose full name is Carmelle Collado, is no stranger to competitive singing. She first rose to wider prominence in 2019, when she competed in the fourth season of 'The Voice Kids Philippines', eventually finishing as the competition's runner-up under coach Bamboo Mañalac.
She went on to become the first grand champion of 'Tawag ng Tanghalan: The School Showdown', before joining 'Pinoy Big Brother Celebrity Collab Edition 2.0'. Her journey has also included international competition, with Carmelle representing the Philippines at the World Championships of Performing Arts and returning home with seven gold medals in 2019.
In 2026, Carmelle continued to establish herself as a recording artist, releasing her self-titled album and performing her own live showcase. The album features 11 tracks, including 'Morena', 'Salamin', 'Checklist', 'Kinang' and 'No Apologies'.
Now, she adds another major achievement to her growing career: representing the Philippines on an international stage.
'Sobra-Sobra' to compete in Bangkok
'Sobra-Sobra' is an empowering dance track written by Nica del Rosario and Mat Olavides.
The song was described by ABS-CBN as a tribute to Philippines, built around a message of empowerment and self-acceptance. 'Sobra-Sobra' encourages women to embrace who they are, rejecting the idea that they can ever be 'too much' or 'not enough'.
Carmelle becomes the third confirmed participant in the competition, following Bhutan's Nyendra and Malaysia's Aina Abdul.
