The singer-songwriter emerged victorious from South Korea’s inaugural national selection for the new competition with 'Deep Dive', securing the ticket to Bangkok, where the first-ever Eurovision Song Contest Asia final will take place on 14 November.
Eight acts competed in 'Korea’s Next Wave', representing a broad range of musical styles. Following the live performances, JUNHEE came out on top, ahead of Sojeong Shim, who finished second, and Angel Noise, who completed the top three.
The result was decided through a combination of jury and public voting, with 40% of the final score coming from the professional jury, 40% from the Korean public and 20% from international voters.
JUNHEE is a South Korean solo singer-songwriter whose music spans pop, R&B and dance. He favours bright, mainstream sounds and sees music as a way of delivering positive energy to his audience.
The singer has also been building an increasingly international profile. Prior to entering 'Korea’s Next Wave', JUNHEE gained attention through cover performances, including a rendition of 'Your Idol' from Netflix's KPop Demon Hunters, which reached millions of views, as well as a cover of 'Free' alongside AleXa. His solo debut single 'SUPERNOVA' also topped iTunes charts in seven international markets, while he recently completed a three-city solo tour in Canada.
JUNHEE is also taking an increasingly hands-on approach to his career. After establishing his own one-person agency, the artist has been balancing his work as both a singer and CEO while continuing to develop his music.
