As the 2026 edition of Junior Eurovision draws near, another song joins the roster of released entries. This time, Salvador Rio presents 'Alma' (Soul).
Portuguese singer-songwriter Diogo Piçarra is behind the song that the 12-year-old will perform. This comes as no surprise, as Piçarra was his mentor during the 2026 edition of The Voice Kids, where the two formed a close bond. "He’s really great. We had a really good relationship throughout the show, and he gave me several important tips."
Salvador Rio won the seventh edition of the show last May, earning the right to represent Portugal in Malta. "I felt incredibly proud to represent Portugal. It still hasn't fully sunk in. Now I want to give it my all, have the time of my life, and make the most of this experience, because just being there is amazing," he said after winning The Voice Kids.
The young artist from Massamá, Sintra, has been described as an energetic and confident kid. Besides music, he is also into football, cycling and movies. At such a young age, he has already done some commercial and voice-over work.
Salvador Rio will now perform on Saturday, 24 October at Ta' Qali, Malta, following Inês Gonçalves, who represented Portugal last year and finished 13th with 73 points.
