After two semifinals, Latvia’s Supernova reaches its grand final tonight. The lineup brings together a wide mix of genres, from radio-friendly pop to alternative sounds and rock, making for a varied and unpredictable show. Here is Lucas West's personal ranking ahead of the final.
Emilija – 'All We Ever Had'
Lucas West: "You could say it’s a generic pop song, and yes, that’s true. BUT I LOVE IT. The staging wasn’t out of this world, but it wasn’t bad either, and some moments gave me Star Wars vibes. Ever since I heard this song for the first time, it hasn’t left my head. This is 100% my cup of tea. Is it common? Yes. But sometimes common just works."
De Mantra – 'Let Them'
Lucas West: "The atmosphere created by the staging, the song, and the performers themselves is really nice. The lyrics are powerful, and overall it stands out as one of the stronger entries in this selection."
Robert Ox – 'Ravin’ At The Taj Mahal'
Lucas West: "This is definitely a guilty pleasure. I was surprised by how well it worked live, much better than expected. Is it high art? No. But it is entertaining, memorable, and brings something different to the lineup."
Tikasha Sakama – '#010126 CODA'
Lucas West: "Her voice is beautiful and very distinctive. The performance feels magical, and if you enjoy pop-indie or alternative music, this will likely appeal to you. That said, it does not quite deliver a real “wow” moment for me."
Kautkaili – 'Te un tagad'
Lucas West: "The staging is very clever, and I loved the concept. She can sing well too. However, the song itself feels a bit boring to me; it is simply not my personal taste."
LEGZDINA – 'Ribbon'
Lucas West: "I like her voice and the song itself, but the staging felt almost nonexistent. The performance came across as empty, and at times she seemed unsure of what to do on stage while singing."
Krisy – 'Take It'
Lucas West: "She delivers a very confident performance. However, I struggled to connect with the melody, which feels somewhat messy and difficult to follow."
Atvara – 'Ēnā'
Lucas West: "The staging is beautiful, but for me the song is not very memorable. Near the end, she goes for a high note; it is not badly sung, I just do not enjoy how it sounds."
ELPO – 'Blakus'
Lucas West: "My main issue is that the song does not build. It starts flat and ends flat. There is a vocal effect used about halfway through that I personally did not like, as it sounds a bit strange."
Miks Galvanovskis – 'Cruel Angel'
Lucas West: "If you like rock, this will probably work for you. His voice is solid and the staging is effective. However, since rock is not my genre (purely personal taste), this one ends up last in my ranking."
