Moldova will return to the Eurovision Song Contest in 2026, following a one-year absence. The announcement was made by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) ahead of a press conference held by Teleradio Moldova (TRM) this morning at the Arena Chisinau.
During the press conference, TRM unveiled a new national selection format, developed after consultations with artists, producers, and figures from the Moldovan music industry. The selection will be coordinated by two producers: Serghei Orlov, known for his work with Moldovan Eurovision participants, and Roman Burlaca, a prominent producer and director behind several popular moldovan artists.
According to TRM, the appointment of the two producers aims to ensure “a professional, transparent and credible selection, which emphasizes the artistic value and international competitiveness of the songs.” Submissions for the selection open on November 7 and will remain open for 30 days. Entries must be sent to eurovision@trm.md.
TRM also revealed that the national jury will include 20 members, five international and fifteen Moldovan, and that the winner will receive a prize to support their Eurovision preparations, along with continued guidance from the producers throughout their journey.
Moldova withdrew from the Eurovision Song Contest 2025 after “a detailed analysis of the current situation, as well as the economic, administrative and artistic challenges.” The country had initially planned to take part in Basel but withdrew after the live auditions stage of Etapa NaÈ›ională. Moldova had previously competed every year since its debut in 2005.
Moldova becomes the third country to confirm its return to Eurovision in recent days, following announcements from Bulgaria’s BNT and Romania’s TVR.
