Bhutan has selected its first-ever Eurovision Song Contest Asia representative. Nyendra has won the inaugural edition of Rhythm of Bhutan and will fly the Bhutanese flag at the first Eurovision Song Contest Asia in Bangkok later this year.
The result was revealed during a two-hour national selection show, broadcast by Bhutanese broadcaster BBS. Five established Bhutanese artists and acts competed for the opportunity to represent the country at the new Asian edition of the Eurovision franchise.
The selection combined three different voting components. A professional jury accounted for 40% of the final result, while viewers in Bhutan were responsible for another 40%. The remaining 20% came from an international Rest of the World vote, allowing audiences outside Bhutan to have a say in the country's selection.
Nyendra emerged as the overall winner with 'Lhayi Semo', meaning 'The Angel'. The song was written by Nyendra himself alongside Lungten Wangchuk.
He will perform 'Lhayi Semo' at the inaugural Eurovision Song Contest Asia, which is set to take place in Bangkok on Saturday, 14 November 2026.
The Sangay Lhaden Band finished in second place with 'Pemi Tshewang Tashi', while Baeyul301 completed the top three with 'Drenpa'.
With the conclusion of Rhythm of Bhutan, Nyendra becomes the first artist officially selected to represent Bhutan at Eurovision Song Contest Asia.
