Among this year’s participants are several familiar faces and voices. Alexander Rybak returns to the Norwegian national selection, marking his second comeback after winning the contest in 2009 with ‘Fairytale’ and again in 2018 with ‘That’s How You Write a Song’. Norwegian-Australian artist Mileo also makes his return, having competed two years ago with ‘You’re Mine’. Meanwhile, Silke was the uncredited female voice on Jone’s ‘Ekko inni meg’, which placed fifth at MGP 2023. Filipino singer Leonardo Amor also took part in the San Marino Song Contest in 2025.

The ninth and final contestant will be determined through a special radio competition on Nitimen, where eight artists will compete in a public vote. The winning act, together with the release of all finalist songs, will be announced on Monday, 26 January.
Melodi Grand Prix 2026 will consist of a single televised show, set to take place on 28 February in Lillehammer, and will be hosted by Marte Stokstad, Markus Neby and Ronny Brede Aase.
