SVT, Sweden’s national broadcaster, has revealed that Björn Kjellman and Oscar Zia will lead the country’s biggest music competition next year. While this will be Kjellman’s first time hosting Melodifestivalen, Zia has previously presented the competition in 2021 and 2022.
Although the two artists have never worked together before, both are familiar faces on the Melodifestivalen stage. Kjellman competed in 2006, while Zia took part in 2014 and 2016.
Speaking about his new role, Björn Kjellman said:
If you have devoted so much unnatural time to Melodifestivalen and Eurovision as I have, in the nerdiest of nerdy ways, then this is obviously the most fun assignment you can get. And to do it with such a smart and fun guy like Oscar is perfect. I absolutely adore him. To be able to host Sweden’s funniest and biggest TV show, well, it’s simply an honor.
Oscar Zia is also looking forward to returning to the Melodifestivalen stage, this time alongside Kjellman.
It feels wonderful to be back! I love Mello and it feels fun and safe to have Björn by my side. I’m really looking forward to hanging out with the viewers again, and leading them through Sweden’s biggest TV party.
Melodifestivalen 2027 will once again travel across Sweden, with the competition set to visit six cities. SVT has yet to announce the dates and host cities for next year’s shows, as well as the 30 artists who will compete.
The submission window for Melodifestivalen 2027 opened on August 21 and will remain open until September 11 at 23:59 CET.
