JESC 2026: alyona alyona as a songwriter for Ukraine’s national selection

Alyona Alyona, who came into the spotlight as one half of the winning duo at Vidbir 2024 alongside Jerry Heil, will be one of the songwriters for the finalists of Ukraine’s Junior Eurovision 2026 national selection.

The news was confirmed by Suspilne, Ukraine’s national broadcaster. The rapper will work along with music producer and musical director Svitlana Tarabarova, and will write three songs for the competition. Alyona Alyona expressed her excitement about returning for the second year in a row:

"I am happy to return to Junior Eurovision. For the second year in a row, I will be creating for children and with children. It gives me a lot of energy because they are our future. Working with children is not an easy task, but it is truly sincere. I hope that this year we will manage to create songs, each of which will find its place in millions of hearts.”

Applications for Ukraine’s Junior Eurovision 2026 National Selection are currently open until 8 July. Up to 15 participants will be shortlisted by 29 July and invited to live auditions. Following this stage, 10 contestants will advance to the "Star School", with six finalists eventually selected to compete in the national final.

The Ukrainian selection for Junior Eurovision 2026 will take place in September. A combination of jury and public voting will decide Ukraine’s representative for the contest, which will be held in Malta in October.

The collaboration marks another year of Alyona Alyona and Svitlana Tarabarova working together, after the pair served as head producers of the 2025 selection. The previous edition saw Sofiia Nersesian win with 'Motanka', before going on to finish second at Junior Eurovision 2025 in Tbilisi, Georgia.
