Gert Kark has been appointed to the Eurovision Song Contest Reference Group as its newest member. He takes the seat previously held by Martin Österdahl, who stepped down as Executive Supervisor earlier this year.
Kark is currently the TV Project Manager at the European Broadcasting Union (EBU). He is also a member of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest Steering Group, the committee that supervises and guides the Junior Eurovision Song Contest (JESC).
With this change, the Reference Group now includes Chairperson Ana Maria Bordas (RTVE) and members: Michael Krön (ORF), Ebba Adielsson (SVT), Moritz Stadler (SRG SSR), Carla Bugalho (RTP), Molly Plank (DR), Claudia van der Pas (AVROTROS), Tomislav Štengl (HRT), David Tserunyan (AMPTV) and Gert Kark (EBU).
The Eurovision Song Contest Reference Group oversees the contest’s strategic direction. Its responsibilities include approving the contest's development and future format, securing financing, modernizing the brand, raising awareness, and overseeing the host broadcaster's preparations each year.
