This week, an Eurovision camp took place in the Netherlands, gathering a diverse group of emerging Eurovision personalities. Among the participants were Mydy (ESCZ 2024), Ananda (DORA 2025), Bobbi Arlo (Eurosong 2025), Sarah Bonnici (Malta 2024), EYJAA (DMGP 2023), Matt BLXCK (MESC 2022, 2023 and 2024), Peculiar (Festival da Canção 2025) and Bodine Monet (Das deutsche Finale 2024). The aim of the camp was to foster collaboration, songwriting, and the exchange of experiences that may lead to future Eurovision entries.
For Maltese singer Sarah Bonnici, who represented Malta at Eurovision Song Contest 2024 in Malmö with 'Loop', the camp offered a chance to reconnect with the Eurovision community and experiment with new sounds. Croatia’s Ananda, who didn't reach the final but stood out at Dora 2025 with 'Lies Lay Cold' and also co-wrote two other competing entries, added her songwriting expertise and emotional approach to the mix.
Ireland’s Bobbi Arlo brought her distinctive alt-pop style after competing in Eurosong 2025. Already recognised as Artist of the Year by Gay Times in 2024, she has been building a reputation as one of Ireland’s most promising young performers. Sister duo EYJAA, who took part in Denmark’s Melodi Grand Prix 2023 with the ballad 'I Was Gonna Marry Him', contributed for sure with their harmonies.
They were joined by MYDY, Matt BLXCK, Peculiar and Bodine Monet, artists linked to the wider Eurovision scene and known for bringing fresh perspectives and genre-blending ideas. Together, the group spent several days working,, exchanging ideas and testing out new material.
This camp was organized by 830 Music Group, a Netherlands-based independent publishing and record label, known for fostering creativity through songwriting camps and artist-focused collaborations. As stated on their website, since 2022 they have been building a "vibrant and fast-growing creative community" via international writing camps and emphasize that "the process is the product." They also partner with Guesstimate, a leading German music and entertainment agency, to enhance creative support and accurate publishing administration.
Writing camps have become increasingly common within the Eurovision sphere, often acting as creative hubs for future contest entries. While it remains to be seen whether any of the songs created in the Netherlands will find their way to a national final or even the Eurovision stage, the presence of such a diverse line-up highlights the growing role these events play in shaping the sound of the competition.
