Norway’s Melodi Grand Prix takes place this evening in Lillehammer, bringing another Super-Saturday of national finals. With nine acts competing, the Norwegian selection returns to HÃ¥kons Hall. Here is Lucas West's personal ranking ahead of the final.
The show will be held at HÃ¥kons Hall in Lillehammer and hosted by Markus Neby, Marte Stokstad and Ronny Brede Aase. Viewers around the world will be able to follow the broadcast through NRK’s online stream. Nine artists will take part in Melodi Grand Prix 2026, offering a mix of styles ranging from atmospheric pop and emotional ballads to darker and more experimental entries.
Emma – 'Northern Lights'
Lucas West:
"Emma is my clear winner, in a not strong year for another country as Norway. The song is pleasant and atmospheric, with a mystical vibe that I really like. The beats work well, and the whole song feels calm but engaging at the same time. It stands out for me compared to the rest of the lineup."
Mileo – 'Frankenstein'
Lucas West:
"A darker and dramatic atmosphere. It has personality and a clear concept, which helps it stay memorable even if it’s not my winner. This song is asking for a choreography and I hope we will see one."
Storm – 'Lullaby'
Lucas West:
"As I said before: I don’t like pop rock genre. But as this year it’s not a strong one for Norway, this one finished as third on my top. A song with good structure and intensity. It creates a strong mood and feels more powerful."
Silke – 'Forevermore'
Lucas West:
"A nice and emotional song with a polished sound. It’s enjoyable to listen to, even if it doesn’t fully stand out for me compared to my top three."
Jonas Lovv – 'Ya Ya Ya'
Lucas West:
"Fun and energetic and playful vibe. It’s not groundbreaking, but it works well as an upbeat entry."
Leonardo Amor – 'Prayer'
Lucas West:
"Beautiful lyrics, melody, and voice. However, there is simply something missing in the melody that prevents it from feeling powerful or impactful enough."
Skrellex – 'Into the Wild'
Lucas West:
"The song is okay, and the beats are fine, but I don’t like her voice. Because of that, the song doesn’t fully work for me, even if the production itself is decent."
Hedda Mae – 'Snap Back'
Lucas West:
"A chill song, and that’s basically it. In my opinion, it doesn’t have a memorable or catchy melody or lyrics, so it fades quickly after listening."
Alexander Rybak – 'Rise'
Lucas West:
"I don’t understand the hype around him, even from years ago. This year’s song feels dated to me, and that’s exactly why I don’t like it. I don’t enjoy the melody, the lyrics, or the overall sound. It simply does nothing for me."
