Austria: Cosmó wins Wer singt für Österreich? with ‘Tanzschein’


For the first time in ten years, Austria hosted the national selection Wer singt für Österreich?. The event took place at the ORF-Zentrum Küniglberg in Vienna on Friday evening, 20 February and was hosted by Alice Tumler and Cesár Sampson. After twelve songs performed on stage, Cosmó won with ‘Tanzschein’, finishing in the top two with both the jury and the televote.

Marking Austria’s return to a televised national final after a decade of internal selections, Austrian broadcaster ORF received more than 500 song submissions, later selecting 12 acts to take part in the national final. The winner was determined through a 50/50 split between public vote and a jury featuring 44 members from Austria and abroad. The 19-year-old Viennese singer secured victory with 12 points from the public and 10 from the jury. The full results below:

5. Nikotin – ‘Unsterblich’ - 11 pts (7 jury + 4 televote)

6. Anna-Sophie – ‘Superhuman’ - 9 pts (2 jury + 7 televote)

7. Freyd – ‘Riddle’ - 8 pts (5 jury + 3 televote)

8. Julia Steen – ‘Julia’ - 8 pts (6 jury + 2 televote)

9. Sidrit Vokshi – ‘Wenn ich rauche’ - 5 pts (0 jury + 5 televote)

10. Reverend Stomp – ‘Mescalero Ranger’ - 3 pts (3 jury + 0 televote)

11. Philip Piller – ‘Das Leben ist Kunst’ - 2 pts (1 jury + 1 televote)

12. David Kurt – ‘Pockets Full of Snow’ - 0 pts (0 jury + 0 televote)
